Point Pelee Birding!

There had been reports of a Yellow Throated Warbler, Louisiana Waterthrush and Henslow Sparrow all of which i need for my Life List at Point Pelee. So Chris, Ashley(Chris's girlfriend) and myself headed off to see if we could find them. We walked along the DeLaurier Trail to see if there was any sign of the Henslow but were unsuccessful however I did get another of my life list when a Black Vulture flew right over top of us.
Next stop was a walk along Tilden Woods and Woodland Trail and we managed to find the Louisiana Woodthrush playing around in the marsh boardwalk area.
Two of my list was great for the day we however did not see the yellow throated warbler on this trip. Before Chris and Ashley left for their bird contract in Indiana we decided to try Pelee one more time as they were still reporting the Yellow Throat Warbler and we were not disappointed we found it near the large downed Sycamore tree on the woodland trail.
On the way home we stopped at Hillman Marsh and here is some of the pictures of what we saw I also got a two life list day.
The Marble Godwit was being chased by a gull for quite a while.
The Blue Gray Gnatcather followed us along the trail from the tip. We found this Horned Grebe swimming at the tip.

NORTHERN MOCKINGBIRD STILL HERE!!!!

Finally some sun so one does not waste it. Chris and I went cleaning out the bird boxes we put up last year. The two at Perch Creek proved to have had tree swallows in both boxes, marthaville Management area both boxes had House Wrens, the last 3 boxes are on private property and finally we found one of the boxes had Bluebirds nesting in it the other two had Tree Swallows The owner of the property was excited as he had watched them most of the spring. While on his property which is 50 acres we flushed out a Pileated Woodpecker. The day was still early so we thought we would see if the Northern Mockingbird was still on Michigan and were delighted when we found it sitting up on the hydro line. .
We continued along Michigan out towards Camalchie Sideroad and when we had just passed O'Brien we found 15 Ring Necked Pheasants at the side of the road.
Our route back home was along Churchill Line to Blackwell Side road the Snowy Owl was sitting in its usual spot up on the hydro pole.
On a side note a few days ago we went down to Corunna to see the eagles that have been seen and had the priveledge to see 18 perched in the trees. We sat and watched them soar and try to snatch one of the Mergansers the eagles would hover over top of the duck as it was submerged trying to stay under until the eagle would fly off.

ARTIC BLAST!!!

The weather is quite nasty and i feel the birds have all burrowed under ground and who would blame them!! Went a drive down to the lighthouse and there was lots of ice so most of the waterfowl was way out. There was the usual group of Long Tails doing there floating down then flying back out. There was also 2 White winged scoters close to shore so I watch them for a little bit. Well the Snowy Owl is still hanging out at the Solar Farm on Blackwell Sideroad. The best was when the four Short Earred Owls came and started hunting across the landfill site.
The weather network says this artic freeze should end by thursday lets hope so!
