TAVISTOCK LAGOONS/REDWING INVASION

There is still alot of snow in Tavistock but the day was so warm you really thought it was the middle of May. We took a walk along the railway tracks adjacent to the lagoons and they were quite alot of Canada Geese and some Mallards in the open water areas. No unusual birds to be seen.

The trail  along the railway tracks has quite alot of low growing shrubs and the amount of  birds  flittering amongst the branches was a challenge especially trying to identify the sparrows.  Some of the birds we saw were American Tree Sparrow, Black Capped Chickadee, Dark Eyed Juncos.

During the walk a group of 20 Redpolls landed in a tree and Chris and I tried to check them to see if there was a Hoary Redpoll amongst them we got a glimpse of what we thought was one but it took off before we could both agree it was.
We saw a group of American Robins fly over and heard Killdeers in the farm field adjacent to the lagoons.

On the way back to Sarnia the sky was alive. A  couple of turkey vultures were  soaring as well as 3 Redtail Hawks.
2 Northern Harriers were coasting low to the ground near Warwick.
